There are more than one hundred clubs, societies & voluntary sector organisations. The Community Centre and Frodsham Youth Association are located on Fluin Lane and the large Centre and surrounding playing fields are much used by the local community as a base for local groups, for rehearsals, classes, parties and meetings. In addition there are many other buildings operated for community use, for instance Overton Memorial Hall, 3rd Frodsham Sea Scout Headquarters, 4th Frodsham (Overton) Scout Group Headquarters, Beacon Explorer Scout Unit Headquarters, Frodsham Cricket Club, Castle Park Arts Centre and so on.

The town is well served for its health and education needs. A new health centre opened in 2011 on Princeway and there are four primary schools in the town itself: Frodsham C of E (Cont.) Primary School, Weaver Vale Primary School, St. Luke's Roman Catholic Primary School and Manor House Primary School. The closest secondary school is Helsby High School.

There are a number of restaurants, bars and public houses as well as take-aways, a supermarket and newsagents. Sports and hobbies are often said to be at the heart of the town's life with, for instance, thriving Cricket and Football Clubs and Leisure Centre all important parts of town life.

There are a number of parks and outdoor venues as well as clubs and activities for young people.

History

There are pre-historic hill forts in the Frodsham area, the closest being on Woodhouse Hill, and a possibly Roman road ran through the Overton area. Frodsham, and the Parish Church of St. Laurence are also noted in the Domesday Survey of 1086.

Frodsham as it is known today was established as a Free Borough Market Town around 1230. Long narrow 'burgage plots' of one acre were established along what is now known as Main Street and people were encouraged to earn their living from trade. Many of today's buildings stand on these original plots.

The town was badly affected by the Black Death but the market was re-established in 1661 and the current Thursday market is a continuance of those rights. In the mid-Victorian period the town also held a butter market.

Although Frodsham has expanded more recently to include other smaller settlements such as Overton, Bradley, Marsh Green, Netherton, Newtown and Frodsham Bridge, there are still many buildings of historic interest and the street pattern in the centre of Frodsham has remained largely unaltered.

Frodsham Town Council have provided a street map and brief history of Frodsham.
