Many, many thanks to all those who have sent cheques towards our Church Harvest Appeal for Runcorn and District Food Bank and Chester Aid to the Homeless. To date, we have received gifts which total £895.00 but if you have only just realised that this appeal was going on, or if like us you have intended to give but not quite got round to it, we are still able to accept gift cheques up to the end of October, posted to the Church Treasurer, John Holmes.
It would be a great achievement to be able to top £1,000 before we close the scheme. Both these charities have been part of our focus during the pandemic. Following your generous gifts for the Thanksgiving Weekend in July, we received thank you letters from both, and you may be interested in this quotation from Runcorn Foodbank: “This year has seen more need of our services, but fewer food donations, so we have been grateful for money gifts to enable us to fill in the gaps, as well as help towards paying the Foodbank overheads which amount to more than £15,000 per year. You can be assured that your church’s donation will make an important difference to people who are in crisis and struggling to put food on the table. Please pass on our thanks to all members of your church for their kindness and thoughtfulness in furthering God’s work in this way.”
