The audience were much absorbed by the Rhema Theatre presentation in October. The performance enacted the day to day reality of the tragedy facing individuals across the world by Human Trafficking. £800 was raised through this evening and this has been forwarded to front-line charities tackling this situation.
The evening was sponsored by the Chester Diocese of the Church of England and Frodsham Churches Together. Refreshments were donated by our local Supermarket, Morrisons, who have kindly agreed to further support the fundraising by allowing Carol Singing at the Store in December. All donations will go to the Salvation Army UK fund for Trafficked Victims. Stephen Pickett Our liturgy for the lighting of the Advent candles this year is taken from materials produced by All We Can (formerly the Methodist Relief and Development Fund). There are some copies in the vestibule of a meditation on these, which can be used throughout Advent for your own private prayers.
Our offering on Christmas Day will also go to All We Can, and gift aid envelopes will be available a couple of weeks earlier. (For more information about All We Can, see the notice board in the Church Hall foyer). As usual, we are inviting you to send just one card to the whole Church, and to give the money you would have spent on cards to individuals to Christian Aid instead. This year we are supporting their special appeal for refugees. They are working through partner organisations in Eastern Europe, to help them cope with the huge number of refugees arriving through Greece. As winter draws in, the plight of the refugees becomes even more horrific. Anything you can give will go to a very good cause.
There is a board in the Church Hall for your cards, and envelopes to place your donation in – please sign the gift aid declaration if you are a tax-payer. Thank you. A few photos from our fantastic Meet the Craft Maker 2015. Wonderful to see so many friends joining us. Hope everyone got their Christmas presents sorted! Frodsham Churches Together Against Human Trafficking have an Urgent Request for Carol Singers. Our local Supermarket, Morrison's, has kindly given permission for us to sing Carols at the store on Saturday the 5th December. We anticipate that this will be supported by members of the Salvation Army, Warrington Band.
We expect to have designated slots for singing during the morning and afternoon. If you can help, please contact Stephen or Hilary Pickett. A list for volunteer singers is also available in the Church Foyer. Or you can e-mail enquiries@frodshammethodist.org. |
