As we commemorate the First World War during 2014, the young people of Frodsham Methodist Church held an Evening of Food and Music from 100 years ago on Saturday 11 October.
There was an opportunity for the guests to sample a First World War-era menu and to handle exhibits of artifacts from that time period.
From Christian Aid......Be part of hunger for justice; a weekend of prayer and action 18th & 19th October
A weekend for the churches to speak out to protect the world we love, and to challenge our politicians to do everything they can to tackle climate change. Now is the time to build momentum. The next couple of years hold big opportunities to secure the safe, clean future we want to see. Global summits are being held, and the deals that take place at them could prevent runaway climate change. But our leaders will only take strong action when they hear that this is something we really care about.
We have a vision – of a weekend in which hundreds of churches across the country pray to tackle climate change and urge their local MPs to act. You could a special service, create a prayer room or organise a walk of witness. Whatever you do, invite your MP along and challenge them to bring about change. Your contribution could last an hour or all weekend, but every prayer and every action counts.
