A week earlier than in previous years, eight families from 0930live! braved the Friday night traffic to head to a campsite in Newborough, Anglesea. Crossing the Menai bridge at crawling pace, we were treated to our first stunning view of the evening sun reflecting off the water. We pitched our assortment of tents, camper vans and caravans on the site and settled down on the first night under a large, yellow full moon. The campsite was near to a forest that led down to a large sandy beach, about 30 mins walk away – perfect for exercising the various dogs and children we had with us. The children bonded brilliantly, and there was an almost constant football game being played at the site (mainly dads, lads, Georgina and Ellie). Andrea organised kite making and many of these were taken down to the beach to be flown in the stiff breeze once the tide had gone out later on Saturday. Everyone went to bed on Saturday night smelling of barbeques and the fried onions kindly prepared and shared by Denise and Caroline! On the Sunday morning we had a short worship time together where we focussed on the theme of ‘Creation’ and talked about the evidence of God’s hand on the things and sights we had experienced during the weekend. Andrea retold the story of Creation and we were treated to some excellent drama from Emily and the Anstice family. It was really good to take some time out of busy lives to spend it together with none of the usual time pressures, getting to know each other a bit better. It was also good to meet up with some of the other campers on the site – and their dogs! Pippa Jacobson July 2014 Comments are closed.
