Spreading Christmas Joy

29/9/2015

A small shoebox can have a big impact. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal.
Picture
At our Gift service on the 15th November 2015, we will be dedicating Christmas Shoe Boxes which will be transported to children around the world. Take a look on the Operation Christmas Child Samaritan's Purse website for details about what you can put in a shoe box.

You can help in different ways:-
1) Finding a shoe box.
2) Collecting items to fill a box and either fill one yourself or bring items to Church to fill boxes together.
3) Use the knitting patterns on the website to make something for the boxes.
4) Donate £3. Each box needs £3 to help with transporting costs.
5) Come on Wednesday 4th November at 3.30pm and Thursday 12th November at 7pm to help decorate and fill boxes.

At Frodsham Methodist Church Ladies Group on Monday 14th September, the speaker was Jane Stubbs, a support worker from the Alzheimer's Society. She gave an interesting and thought provoking insight into the illness and support that can be offered to sufferers. The picture shows Ladies Group secretary Anne Maddams presenting Jane with a cheque for £750.00 raised at this year's Summer Fair, a wonderful effort by all those concerned. Jane replied with grateful thanks to all the group.

Gift Service 2015

11/9/2015

This year we will be supporting Operation Christmas Child. This organisation sends shoe boxes full of gifts to boys and girls in places of conflict. You can either complete a whole shoe box or donate items to go in them. A list of what you can put in the shoe boxes will be up in the Hall and in the newsletter next week with the times when we are meeting to make up the box. For now start saving a shoebox. This is an opportunity for everyone to work together to give a child a unique Christmas present when they have very little. The boxes will be presenting at our gift service on the 15th November.

A knit and natter group is being organised for alternative Monday afternoon’s starting at 2.30 pm. We could occasionally include crafts, e.g. cards, crochet, flower arranging or anything else that someone might have the expertise and be happy to show us. We are hoping to start as soon as possible so if you are interested can you please let Patricia Barnard or Susan Fairbanks (enquiries@frodshammethodist.org) know so we have an idea of numbers.
